lekma logo.jpggoLEKMA HOLDS STAFF DURBAR A staff durbar was held at the forecourts of the LEKMA Assembly on Friday, 19th September, 2014. The durbar was organized by management to enable staff interact with them and lay bare their concerns and challenges they are confronted with during their day-to-day activities. It also gave the Chief Executive the opportunity to meet all the staff at the same time for the first

time. The new Municipal Development Planning Officer, Mr. Kofi Taylor-Appiah was introduced to staff. Hon. Badu-Tawiah was pleased that staff were working hard to achieve the objectives of the Assembly which has been translated into the Assembly going through the FOAT assessment. He however did not mince words when he sounded a note of caution to some staff that were not punctual at work and even punctual at the durbar. The Municipal Coordinating Director, Mrs. Moira Nancy Ewa took staff through performance management. She explained that attendance was very important as it played a key role during the validation of monthly salaries. She urged staff to put in more effort at work to achieve the objectives of the Assembly. The Municipal Finance Officer, Mrs. Josephine Naa Torshie Awua was at her best when she took her turn to introduce staff to the E-Salary Payment System. She explained to staff that monthly salaries are validated from the Assembly with effect from September and therefore staff should take attendance to work seriously in order not to loose their salaries. Some officials from the National and Regional Offices of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) also took the opportunity to educate all present on the new CLOGSAG Fund deduction. Mr. J.N.A Ankrah – Director, Finance and Grievances led the discussion. He was supported by Mr. Appiah-Sampong – National Treasurer, Mr. Kwame Asamoah-Dwomoh – 1st National Trustee, Mr. Samuel Collison – Greater Accra Regional Secretary and Mr. George Thompson – Greater Accra Regional Treasurer. Staff asked series of questions and made suggestions pertaining to deductions for contributions to the fund and the association dues. During the interaction with management, most staff asked questions bothering their departments and units as well as conditions of work. The management team explained and clarified issues to the joy of all. In her closing remarks, Mrs. Ewa thanked all staff present for honoring their invitation and said it would be good idea to have another such durbar at the end of the year. Also present at the durbar were the Municipal Budget Officer, Municipal Cleansing Officer, Municipal Information Officer and Municipal Environmental Officer. AJARA SOALI}
