The Ledzokuku – Krowor Municipal Assembly (LEKMA) has organized a staff durbar to award its hard working staff and also to outdoor the Assembly’s branded cloth on Wednesday 23rd December, 2015 at the forecourt of the head office.

The Municipal Chief Executive of the Assembly, Hon. Seth Badu -Tawiah in in his address, said he is honoured to be part of the occasion and noted that it will give everyone the opportunity to soberly reflect on all that they have done during the year 2015, while they plan ahead for greater achievements for the Assembly in 2016.

He mentioned that the Assembly as at November 30, 2015 had generated an amount of Three Million, Nine Hundred and Sixty-One Thousand, Four Hundred and Seven Cedis, Ninety-Eight pesewas (GH₵3,961,407.98) from the Internally Generated funds (IGF) which represents 7.64% more of the total IGF projected for the year 2015 which was Three Million, Six Hundred and Eighty Thousand, Two Hundred Ghana Cedis (GH₵3,680,200.00) and said the achievement was as a result of the collective efforts by all and the proactive measures put in place by management.

Hon. Badu -Tawiah encouraged all to continue to work towards the provision of services and infrastructure needed by the communities which are in line with the mission and vision of the Assembly. He thanked all the staff for the role they played towards the growth of the Assembly.

The Municipal Coordinating Director, Mrs. Moira Nancy Ewa gave the purpose of the gathering. She said the durbar is to celebrate hard work, dedication, outdoor the LEKMA branded cloth and fraternize. Mrs. Ewa used the opportunity to inform all staff of her impending transfer from LEKMA in early January, 2016. She thanked all staff for their support during her tenure and asked that greater support be given to the incoming Director.

The Regional Budget Officer of the Regional Co-ordinating Council, Mr. Acquaye Pappoe who represented the Regional Coordinating Director in his speech said the IGF performance is a great achievement and it is refreshing to know that the amount will be applied to education and the construction of roads in the municipality.

He congratulated the Assembly for instituting the Staff Awards and asked that staff unite to deliver development and institute a lot of professionalism in their work. He entreated them to be client focused and disciplined in their dealings with clients. Mr. Pappoe wished all a merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.

Awards were presented to some workers in the various departments. The Overall Best Department award went to the Information Services Department with Rosemary Zaadong of the same department taking the award of Best Department Worker and Ajara Soali, the Municipal Information Officer of the same department getting one of the three Special Awards. The Overall Best Worker went to Miss Rita Asi Ocansey of the Human Resources Unit. Krowor Zonal Council was the Best Zonal Council.

The Head of Human Resource of the Local Government Services, Mrs. Patrina Parkins outdoored the LEKMA branded cloth. Some of the staff modeled to the admiration of all. Mrs. Parkins said she was impressed about the Assembly’s performance and the organization of the durbar and asked that it keeps up the good work.


Appreciation went to the members of the Staff Awards Committee as follows: Cecilia Ofori Asante-Municipal Budget Officer (Chairperson), Candid Pwavra Kape-Municipal Internal Auditor, Ajara Soali -Municipal Information Officer (Facilitator), Samuel Abglo-Municipal Environmental Health Officer and William Akyea- Head of Management Information System Unit.

It was announced that the Client Service Unit of the Assembly was now operational and it was managed by Hannah Asiedu Mantey- an Assistant Director. The unit as depicted by its name is the first point of call to assist all clients who visit the Assembly for various reasons.
