The Minister of Employment and Labour Relations- Ignatius Baffour Awuah (MP) has asked all persons who are still putting up structures on the land belonging to the Management Development and Productivity Institute (MDPI) at Baastonaa in the Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipality to stop work with immediate effect.

The Minister disclosed that the MDPI has now received some financial support to help it complete the facilities it started decades ago. He was accompanied by the Director of Finance and Administration at the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations (MELR) – Rudolph Kuuzegh, the Director of MDPI- Dr. Jerome R. Awortwe- Abban. Also at the meeting were the Municipal Coordinating Director of LEKMA- Kodjoe Dekpo, the Municipal Town and Country Planning Officer- Gladys Muquah, the Municipal Works Engineer-Richard Kofi Nuamah, Municipal Information Officer-Ajara Soali and some LEKMA Development Control staff.

Other dignitaries from the Nungua Traditional Council that attended the meeting were the Nungua Stool Lands Secretary-Rexford Addotey, the Nungua Stool Priest, Nii Quashie Somuyie I among others.

Hon. Awuah told all persons who have developed their property on the land that they were occupying it illegally.  He mentioned that the encroachment started a decade ago and must stop immediately. None of property owners present had a land title document to support the ownership of the land they were occupying.  He however gave a week deadline to all those with kiosks around the uncomplete administration block of the MDPI to remove them.

At the end of the meeting, the Hon. Minister gave a directive for all stakeholders in the matter to bring a representative each so that they could form a committee to further discuss the issue and find the way forward. The stakeholders are the property owners currently occupying the land, the MDPI, LEKMA, MELR and Nungua Stool Lands.
