PREZ DONATES TOWARDS TESHIE HOMOWO
The president, John Evans Atta Mills, on Friday presented bags of maize, cartons of fresh fish, crates of assorted drinks worth GH¢6.000.00 and an undisclosed amount of money to the chiefs and people of Teshie near Accra, towards the celebration of Homowo. The items were distributed to the traditional council as well as the five clans which constitute Teshie namely Agbawe, Krobo, Klemusu, Lenshie and Gbugla.
The deputy minister of youth and sports, Nii Nortey Duah
who presented the items, said the president attaches importance to the celebration festivals in the country. He observed that the
role of the traditional leaders and their in the national building cannot over emphasized and appealed them to bury their differences to help push their developmental agenda forward. The deputy minister, who is also the Member of Parliament, indicated that the government was poised to carry out a number of development project in the area and appealed for the cooperation of the people.
The Municipal Chief Executive of the Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipal Assemble (LEKMA), Daniel Amartey Mensah, said with the help from the government, the assemble had embarked on a number of project to give a facelift to the municipality. Among them are the construction of facilities at the Nungua Senior High School, the Teshie Presby School and the opening of traffic on the Teshie-Nungua road which has help ease traffic congestion and appealed to drivers to be caution on the road.
