ADDRESS DELIVERED BY THE MUNICIPAL CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF THE LEDZOKUKU-KROWOR MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY AT THE TRAINING PROGRAMME ON PROCUREMENT, PROPOSAL WRITING AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS AT AFRICAN ROYAL BEACH HOTEL FROM TUESDAY, 10TH JULY, TO THURSDAY, 12
Hon. Presiding Member,
Hon. Assembly Members,
Municipal Co-ordinating Director,
Heads of Department,
Resource Persons,
Friends from the Press,
I have the singular honour to welcome you to this 3-day Training Programme organised by the Management of the Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipal Assembly on Procurement, Proposal Writing and Leadership Skills.
Hon. Presiding Member, this Training Programme is being organised to equip Assembly Members to effectively discharge their duties to the Assembly and the electorates. Essentially the training is supposed to enlighten participants with basic knowledge in procurement Management as well as expose them to the legal framework regulating procurement. This will enable us all appreciate the process of the acquisition of goods, works or services at competitive price and thereby obtain value for money.
Hon. Presiding Member, it has become necessary for Hon. Assembly Members to improve their skills in good proposal writing. For your information there are many fund sources which you can access to solve identified problems in your various Electoral Areas. A well written proposal will definitely attract funding from Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs), Corporate Bodies, Foreign Missions and other benevolent organisations who manage such funds.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to also place emphasis on the importance of enhancing our leadership skills, for as the saying goes “Leadership is cause and everything else is effect”. To us, we are all leaders of our communities hence the need to improve upon our knowledge on how to effectively serve our citizens to their satisfaction.
Hon. Members, today’s programme is to prove to you that the series of meetings, seminars and workshops you were assured of during your orientation is in progress and I wish to emphasize that we would definitely deliver on all our promises.
It is rather unfortunate that this 3-day Training Programme could not be fully residential due to budget constraints.
Let me also take this opportunity to encourage all present to actively participate in the ongoing Better Ghana at your Doorstep Outreach Programme. It should be well noted that this programme is an initiative by LEKMA which has received commendation from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development for which the Ministry has decided to replicate throughout the country. The main aim of the Better Ghana at your Doorstep Outreach Programme is to reach out to members of the community and educate them on the structure and functions of the Assembly. It also seeks to inform the electorate on developmental projects that are being undertaken in their various communities and what the levies they pay are used for. This will make them appreciate the fact that even though some areas are not witnessing infrastructural projects yet there are projects taking place in other parts of the Municipality.
On the whole the Better Ghana Agenda Outreach Programme has successfully taken place in 13 Electoral Areas and is ongoing.
I wish on this note to entreat all participants to take this training serious. And to conclude, let me welcome you once more and wish you a successful training.
Thank you and May God bless us all.} else {
