MCELEKMA HOLDS 1ST QUARTER TOWN HALL MEETING FOR 2014
The Ledzokuku- Krowor Municipal Assembly (LEKMA) has held its first quarter town hall meeting for the year 2014 on Monday March 31st. The Town Hall Meetings are held so that the citizens are informed of the projects and programmes the Assembly is undertaking and to get them involved.

The Municipal Chief Executive of LEKMA, Honourable Seth Badu Tawiah in his welcome address thanked all participants for coming and said in order for the Assembly to improve, they will all have to come together to think of a way to improve it.

Honourable Seth Badu Tawiah mentioned that they have four years to complete all projects and they must do it with understanding. He stated that they should be able to use the limited time they have to do these jobs for the success of the Assembly.He noted that with togetherness and understanding, there will be improvement in LEKMA.

On her part, Mrs. Nancy Moira Ewa, the Municipal Coordinating Director said, the purpose of the gathering is to review activities of the past year and the familiarization of activities of this year such as fee fixing. Mrs. Ewa mentioned that for the success of the Assembly, the participation of the citizens in its governance is very important and thus the need for town hall meetings.

She stated that it provides a platform to look at things to be done from 2014 to 2017 and also to participate with workable ideas for the development of the Assembly.
The various departments in the Assembly presented their reports and plans for the years ahead after which questions were asked and answered. Most of the issues raised centered on sanitation, the building of disability friendly facilities, single parenting, improving maternal health and family planning and finally controlling the rate of school dropouts.
At the end of the meeting, it was a successful deliberation to the joy of all present.
