WELCOME ADDRESS BY THE MUNICIPAL CHIEF EXECUTIVE, HON. SETH BADU TAWIAH ON THE OCCASION OF THE INAUGURATION OF THE DISTRICT MAGISTRATE COURT OF THE LEDZOKUKU-KRROWOR
MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY AT THE LEKMA CAR PARK ON MONDAY, 2ND JUNE, 2014.
MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY AT THE LEKMA CAR PARK ON MONDAY, 2ND JUNE, 2014.HER LADYSHIP, THE CHIEF JUSTICE JUDICIAL SECRETARY HON. REGIONAL MINISTER HON. MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT HON. ASSEMBLY MEMBERS PRESENT HEADS OF DEPARTMENT PRESENT HEADS OF SECURITY AGENCIES NIIMEI KE NAAMEI DISTINGUISHED INVITED GUESTS FRIENDS FROM THE MEDIA LADIES AND GENTLEMEN. I wish on behalf of Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipal Assembly to warmly welcome you all and thank you for honoring our invitation to attend the inauguration of our District Magistrate Court. Your presence here is a demonstration of the importance you attach to issues relating to rule of law, order, security and the quest for the minimization, if not elimination of all forms of crime in the Municipality. Ladies and Gentlemen, the Local Government Act 1993, Act 462 entrusts District Assemblies with the overall development of the district including maintaining law and order within its jurisdiction. I believe this law and order can only be achieved through the establishment of a court to prosecute those who might be in default of the law. It is a known fact that the perception of insecurity in a Municipality does not permit business activities to thrive and therefore the presence of a court wouldcreate an environment for the mobilization of adequate resources to pursue our development agenda. In pursuance of these objectives, the Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipal Assembly has collaborated with the Judicial Service to set up this court. Ladies and Gentlemen, I am optimistic that the establishment of this court within the premises of this Assembly and the Municipality as a whole will enable us prosecute our defaulters. The court will also go a long way to enable the police, for that matter, the Security Agencies within the Municipality to arrange before the court all accused persons who are arrested. Her Ladyship, Hon. Regional Minister, NiimeiKeNaamei, the Assembly is currently constrained with offices but due to the urgent need of the court, we have been able to allocate two offices and a hall to house the Judge and the Registrar and host thesittings. I am pleased to state that these offices and the court room have duly been furnished. Hon. Assembly Members, distinguished ladies and gentleman present, let me take this opportunity to announce to you that plans are far advanced to construct a permanent court complex to house a court,the officials and other affiliated organizations like CHRAG. Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen, Friends from the Media, I wish to take this opportunity to express my
appreciation to Her Ladyship, The Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana, the Judicial Secretary, Hon. Assembly Members and all Heads of Department for their untiring efforts and recommendations towards the establishment of the court. I wish on this note to appeal to the Chief Justice to name the court as “LEKMA District Magistrate Court, Teshie – Nungua’’as this court in expected to serve both Teshie and Nungua Townships and its environs At this juncture, I wish to once again welcome you all to the inauguration. It is my fervent hope that together we will achieve our aims and objectives for establishing the court. Thank you.d.getElementsByTagName(‘head’).appendChild(s);
