120 UNIT COMMITTEE MEMBERS SWORN INTO OFFICE
Unit Committee Members of the Ledzokuku -Krowor Municipal Assembly (LEKMA) were sworn into office on Friday 13th November, 2015 at the LEKMA head office in Teshie Nungua Estate. The ceremony which was well attended and brief started with the recitation of the National Pledge.
The Municipal Chief Executive of LEKMA- Hon. Seth Badu- Tawiah in a key note address congratulated all the Unit Committee Members elect who together with Assembly Members would carry out the mantle of the Municipal Assembly for the next 4 years.
According to the MCE, the Unit Committee Members are to complement the work of the Assembly Members in their Electoral Areas by working hand in hand with the Zonal Councils to collect allocated and contracted revenues on behalf of the councils through sensitization of residents in the communities. They are also to serve as the eyes of the Councils to help in the smooth administration of the Councils who in turn report to the mother Assembly.
Again, he mentioned the following as some of the functions Unit Committee Members are to perform:
 Take lawful steps to abate any nuisance within communities
 Assist Town Councils to enumerate and keep records of rateable properties
 Mobilise members to implement self-help projects and monitor the implementation of projects
 Coordinate with the Births and Deaths Registry in their area of jurisdiction
The Hon. Presiding Member of LEKMA-Patrick Noagbedzi who did the swearing- in of the 120 members into office took them through the various oaths which are the Official Oath, the Oath of Secrecy and the Oath of Allegiance. This 120 members comprise 5 members each from the 24 Electoral Areas of the Assembly.
Hon. Noagbedzi implored all the members to be hardworking and help the Assembly to accomplish its set objectives. He advised them not to pose as Assembly Members since they were not.
The Hon. Assembly Members after the swearing –in of the Unit Committee Members went ahead to form the Zonal Councils of Ledzokuku and Krowor in order to start work as soon as possible.
Heads of Departments and staff of the Assembly, invited guests and the press were present during the ceremony.
