SPEECH DELIVERED BY MR CLEMENT ABLORH KOMMEY
SPEECH DELIVERED BY MR CLEMENT ABLORH KOMMEY (CEO OF CLECOMAX MULTIMEDIA) ON THE OCCASION OF THE OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF THE COMMUNITY COLTS SOCCER PROJECT.
Mr. Chairman, honorable minister of youth and sports and mp for ledzokuku, honorable MP present, members of the press, invited guests, ladies and gentlemen; I am highly elated to see this day come into reality.
Soccer remains passion for the nation. As a matter of fact, the ability of sport to bring unity in diversity and for the purpose of development is unquestionable. As a result of consistency in performance by the black stars, Ghana is today ranked as the number one soccer nation in Africa, an achievement which we are all proud of. However, can the same be said about the other junior levels such as under 23, under 20, under 17 and what have you? Your guess is as good as mind.
Mr. Chairman , there is an adage in Akan that says “onipa beyeee bi nanso wan beye ninyinaa” meaning one person cannot do everything simply because we have to move on one way or the other and prepare the ground for others to take over. As we grow old we groom our children and instil the same level of discipline and needed attention so that they can continue from where we left off so as maintaining the good work in the near future. Where lies the future of today’s shinning black stars without juvenile soccer?
Gone are the days when soccer fans trooped to the stadium to watch matches simply because of a talented player they have followed right from colts soccer to the senior level. Today, that enthusiasm is no more. Sadly our premier league matches have become unattractive and virtually played at empty stadiums.
The declining rate of juvenile soccer in Ghana is upsetting if not disappointing. No wonder this plague attracted the attention of the president of the land who has accordingly called for all hands on deck to develop the one vibrant juvenile soccer that highlighted the unique prowess of young talents in Ghana to the outside world. To this end, the community colts soccer project is a giant step towards supporting the president’s vision and pronouncement to, as it were, begin the journey of reviving juvenile soccer in Ghana which used to feed our national teams.
This is an initiative of Clecomax multimedia under the auspices of the deputy minister of youth and sports and Member of Parliament for the ledzokuku constituency, honourable Nii Nortey Dua. It is our fervent wish to extend this initiative to other regions in rt5he country. We are grateful to RLG communications, sportika and our media partners: GTV, TV3 Metro TV, Asempa FM, Hot FM, Obonu FM, Happy FM, Graphic and All Sports for the project. Our humbly appeal goes to the government and other corporate institutions to support us with the needed resources to make this vision a reality. Thank you all for your attention.
